Whats on my design wall

I went to Bolts and Binding quilt shop for their Saturday Strip Club. This was the pattern for this month and I made 3 blocks. I'm unsure if it's going to be a table runner or what.

New Toy for John

Thursday May 22nd we went down and picked up John's new Polaris Toy.  It was very exciting getting it loaded. First try.... seems a little long for the truck bed.

we did not want to drive all the way home and pick up the car trailer, so John went to plan B

check out the boards he bought to extend the length of his truck bed.

Yea!!! it fits. John getting it secured for the drive home. I was worried about how he would get it off the truck, once we got home.

No problem just drive the truck, with the boards sticking out the back, into the bank and then drive
the Polaris off.

Static Air Show

The 3rd Saturday of each month the Mojave Airport has a gathering of small planes. We have been several times and this time they had Jim Payne with a slide show on his trip to South America with his Glider.

Paul Bunyan (John & Carl)

John's friend Carl had a very large dead pine tree and Carl was afraid it was going to fall and take out his fence. He and John worked, chopped, cut it with chain saws, and used a Front End Loader to fell this tree.

Seems like it would have been lots easier to let the tree fall, then fix the fence.

Stacked retaining wall

This is the area John dug out for our new wall that will be behind our wadding pool
We went to Home Depot for a load of the stack block. This is new way to get block off the trailer. Tractor lifting the trailer then a timber to hold it up!
Work started

YES the new wall with plants.

Flowers

Before breakfast we loaded up the trash and made a dump run...
The Lupen (sp) are all blooming and we have a field of them you see on the ride to the dump.

Kernville Car Show

Saturday morning found us up early with the Mite Might loaded on the trailer and headed for the Old Car Show.  We were the only old military vehicle in the show. John won a 1st place place for "ladies choice"

While at the show I saw my friend Chris. She invited me to go to lunch, with a group of her friends, to the Greenhorn Grill. There were 10 of us and we had a great time with lots of laughs.

After lunch and the Car Show was over we went back to Chris and Haywards to rest and wait for 6:30 when the Anderson party was to start. We went back to Kernville to the party and had a great time. We are starting to know quite a few of the Car Club people.  The party had a band that was quite good.
 "Out of the Blue"
They played music that we enjoyed. I even saw some line dancing. Was great to hear a band you could understand the words and did not damage your hearing.  Must be getting OLD!

Spring

Things are starting to warm up and flowers are blooming.  This old pot comes out each year.

Last week we lost our old dog Bear. She was a rescue dog Penne found in San Demis canyon in 2001. Skip and I had been on a Baltic Cruise, when we arrived home we found a note saying "don't be alarmed at the animal in the backyard".  We were alarmed, because with Penne you never knew what type of animal she was going to find.  This turned out to be a cross between a Lab and a Chow. We were luck she had the temperament of a Lab and the hair of the Chow.  What a sweet dog she was. Somehow she was always at the bottom of the animal pecking order. Very even tempered and loving. She will be missed by all of us and the rest  of our animals.

Another UFO finished!  This is called a "crum block". They are made with scraps and measure 6 1/2 un-finished. I have been working on several small quilts using my small scraps, but somehow the pile is not  getting smaller.
