What's Up in July

I have got to get better at posting because I forget what all we have done...

Saturday July 23rd we took a bike ride to the Mojave Airport for the monthly 3rd Saturday Fly In. We arrived and could not figure out where everyone was...Seems like this was the 4th Saturday not the 3rd.
We had breakfast at the Cafe on the edge of the runway. Watched small planes taking off and enjoyed the breakfast and the ride over. Our Waitress did tell us one of the planes parked outside the window belonged to John Trovalta (sp?). Seems he was in town to film a commercial. This is his plane.

Monday the 18th found us going on a day trip over to Pismo Beach. We took the Ranger, meet Murrel and Connie for a fun ride on the dunes.  We were squealing so loud John let us out while he road fast off the drop offs. We had 2 good rides then loaded up, went into town for a late lunch. We left for home and were back at the house by 7:00 PM.

Friday the 15th we drove up to Kernville in the Military Truck, met Carl & Marilyn for dinner and to see the old Car Cruise night.  They did not show so after a walk by the Kern River we went to the Lake for Ice Cream. Right across the street from McDonald's  were all the old cars.  We walked around and talked to the car owners and had a good time. No camera with me.

July 12th- Tried out my Jet Ski after some repairs. Ran great.

July 10th.- It had been one year since Skip passed away, John and I went to the grave site to check on his stone. We had a Military Service for Skip June 17, they said it would be about 30 days for the marker to be installed.

July 3rd. Marcie had a great Birthday party for Alice.  It was past her birthday but it took awhile before we could all get together.  Some of us went back the next night for leftovers....Yummmmm

June- Fun things -

Lots going on this past week. When we bought the "Toy Hauler" trailer they gave us a "free" one year membership in a camping resort.  We called and made a reservation, drove over and even with having to sit through the spiel where they want you to join, we did have a great time.

Time Flys

How can it be that more (one day) than a month has gone by and I could not make time to post on my diary.
Yesterday we left the house early, went over to Woffard Heights had a bite to eat then we each got a hair cut. After the hair cuts we stopped at a place called "Stuff". On the sign it says "Utterly useless stuff". John found a Shark Tooth artifact. It's new home is now in the Man Cave.

That night we went to dinner with Carl, Marilyn, Dennis and Marybeth in Bakersfield. We tried the Elephant Bar and had a great dinner. We will be going back!

One of the things I did do this past month was take an old UFO to the Long Arm Quilter. I had started this quilt 16 years ago.  I had it quilted and it really turned out good. Now to hand sew the binding on and get a label on it.

Part Time Blogger

Hummm I seem to be a "fair weather" Blogger.  It's amazing how time is flying by, how I remember my Mother telling me that time goes by faster the older we get. I must be really old!!!
We do keep busy. These are a few of the pictures of our weather changes and fun times.

April 4th the weather was nice and warm and the Iris were doing great.

The "Red Bud" in the Canyon.

We woke up on April 7th to a new snow fall. View from Kitchen.

What a few days and the snow did to the Iris.

This bush is in front of the house by the driveway.
Connie's Birthday was the 2nd of April, but we could not all get together
for her party until the 8th.

John in front of his new toy at Walker Lake NV. We spent two nights on our shake down trip.

It did not take long for this single bird to spread the word "John has food"

Ride in the Snow

We talked Carl & Marilyn into going to the snow with us and riding in our converted Ranger. The first thing we did was stop at the Chatter Box in Wordford Hights for Breakfast then it was on to the Mountains. We went up to Sierra Vista and the snow was to deep and the trails had not been groomed. We then went over to the Ski Area, un loaded piled in and off we went. Took these pictures on our five minute ride

Rain, Rain & More Rain

John had a "shoot" today in the rain. The guys arrived in Camo gear, heavy boots, and lots of ammo. It rained all day but didn't dampin their spirt's at all. They came with a camp grill and fixed sausages and hot dogs for a snack. The shooting range is behind the garage, a small building helped keep them dry. The picture is looking down where they were all parked.

St. Patrick's Day and a Touch of Spring

Just One Star for the Semper Fi Fund
Tonight we are having Bunco at TOGS. Shirley is hostess and I have made some things to take down.
On the plate are chocolate covered marshmallows. Look at the labels for the Water!
The small flag picks and 2" round picks are for her Cup Cakes.

This tree is off our deck and has burst into bloom. Every year we try and decide what type of tree it is. When I bought it the tag said it was fruitless tree. Last year we started getting fruit that was either Plums or Cherries.  We will see what we get this year.

Wed. Breakfast At Togs

John and I meet Carl & Dennis for Breakfast. We normaly have quite a few on Wed. for our usual Breakfast Club, but all the others were busy.

I did get the "Just One Star" done today. This is a challenge from Moda Fabrics for all quilters to make just one star block for Flag of Valor project. They need 1800 star blocks to reach their goal to piece, quilt and bind 100 quilts in 100 days.  They are donated the quilts thru the "Semper Fi, Fund.

Next I started on my 9 patch blocks for the April  QVWashed Units swap. I signed up for 3 sets but hope to do at least 4 sets of 5 blocks.

Long Blog Break

It's been awhile since I sat and took the time to blog. My internet connection with Hughes has been very slow. Seems they want $250.00 for a new modem. I'm looking around for a better or faster service. The only thing is I hate to change my E-mail address.

We spent the day in town today. I went to my 11:00 apt, to get my taxes done, only to find they did not have me down. We will have to go back to town Saturday and try again. We did get more things down on out town list. We went to Costco ran into Terry and Julie and had lunch with them. This is what we have been up to.
This is John's truck. He took it to town on Friday, blew the motor, and had to have a very large tow truck bring it home.  Looks like he will be kept busy working on this project .

That same Friday we all had a Birthday Party for Carl and Marilyn. Check out the cake decorating. It was created by Chef John!
 The Birthday couple opening gifts

                                                                   MaryBeth and Dennis

Saturday we went on a "Bean Feed" with the Sugarloafer's.  Had a great time and hope to go again.
Schatzy looking very smart in her new outfit. This was really a Christmas gift for our other little dog Tweety. Thanks to Lori and Kathy she is "Styling".
