Four Wheeler

John had a great day today playing with the guys, squashing cars. A local "Four Wheeler" shop had some cars brought in and they all tried to climb over them and see what they could do. Most could not get up on top of the cars, but John and his Military truck had no problem.

Tehachapi Air Show

We saw a notice in the Tehachapi paper that they were going to have an Air and Military vehicle show for the World War 2 era. We had a great time and could not believe the attention the Duce and Cannon got.
The show was very small with only 4 or 5 airplanes, 4 jeeps and us.
Everyone seemed to be having a good time and the weather was great.

ODD meeting tonight

Thursday September 26th
( I know there is a way to insert this in the right date place, but don't know how. Found this in preview)

Tonight is John's Olive Drab Drivers (ODD)  meeting. He has his Duce truck stored up at his place so we went up to pick it up for tonight. He decided to tow the cannon.... here he is hooking up.

8" round on display

The first week-end of September we were in San Diego for the Reunion of the 

USMC

3rd 8 inch Howitzer Battery

This reunion was held at the Crowne Plaza in San Diego, CA.  I'm not sure of the total number of  people, but the turn out was good. It was good to renew friendships we made from the last years gathering.

Last year we went to a Boot Camp Graduation at the base.

This year they had  arranged a tour of Camp Pendleton  that included a display of some of their equipment. They got an up-close inspection and good question and answer session.  

Cheryl set up a Tea and Lunch at the Coral Tree Tea House in Old Town San Diego.  Eight of us went and are all looking forward to going again next year.

The highlight of the trip was when John brought in his 8" round for display in the hospitality suite. We brought a pen for all the veterans to sign the round.

BOM Class

It's almost time for our 2nd class. Mary Beth and I are taking a block of the month class at Bolts and Binding Quilt Shop. It's being taught by Joann and is called "Stitcher's Garden".  We had such a good time last month and are looking forward to Feb. 2nd when will will have class #2.  The object of the class is to teach you what all your sewing machine will do. This picture is my block from week 1.

Small Quilt Finish

This finish is either late or very very early for Christmas 2013.  The tree skirt is for a small tree we put up in the front room window.  A tutorial from Missouri Star Quilt Co. and their  "Layer Cake Dresden Plate" template helped complete this small but mighty tree skirt.

This was our "fun in the snow".  Weather was great and Ranger ran just fine. It's a little to slow going up hill, but we are going to fix that.

We went on a test run up to the snow with the Ranger outfitted with tracks on the back and skiis in the front. John had to modify the way the skis fit the front and they tested out great!

Blog problems

I'm having trouble with my Blog... Yesterday I started a new post and tried to save it but I got an error message. I had tried to add pictures but when I get the screen to add them the Icon to look on the computer is gone. Its the one that should be on the top. I'm going to try again.

I just got another error message "an error occurred while trying to save of publish your post"
