July 18th Hayward's Outback

Our destination today is a Potluck lunch at Hayward's Outback on Saddle Springs Rd. up in the Piute Mts.
We took the Raz, went out through Weaver Creek then onto Caliente Creek Rd. We had to drive a short distance to get up to the Fire Station and Piute Mtn. Rd.  We took Piute Mtn. Rd to Saddle Springs then on to an area of Private land called Valley View.  The rest of the group came up via Hooper Hill. We arrived first and checked the cabins in the little community.

July 16th A Day at the Coast

John loaded up his new toy RAZ and we headed to the coast. It has been so hot here in Twin Oaks, that a day at the beach sounded great. It was cool enough that I wore a sweatshirt all day. What fun!! New toy goes FAST.

un-loading is exciting!

Alaska Reunion July 2014

KAYHI Nifty Fifties held it's 8th reunion in Ketchikan over the 4th of July weekend in 2014. I flew up on July 1st and had a great time.  Our first event was a Reception & Cocktails at "The Fish Pirates Saloon". They served great Horsd'oeuvres and most used this as dinner!

July 3, 2014
I spent a lot of time out at Bob and Lynda Adams. John & Audrey and Laurie were staying with them and I was able to get a lot of visiting done. This is a picture from Bob and Lynda's back yard..

Dinner for a Bird

Our Picnic was held July 3rd.at the North Tongass Community Club at Refuge Cove. We started the day at Bob and Lynda's, were able to see one of the new grandchildren. I think her name was Ona.

We had rain all day so we never did get down to the beach. They do have a very nice building that gave everyone a dry place to eat and visit.

July 5th  The Banquet
The Banquet was located at the Best Western Landing Hotel. This is where I was staying so all I had to do was go down and cross the driveway to the Sunny Point Room.

Sunday July 6th

Most all of the people from out of town left Ketchikan on Sunday. I was lucky to have one more day and to spend it with Margaret and Tore. Margaret and I  talked "quilting and quilts" then went downtown to check out the wonderful shop they have. I was very sorry to hear the shop is up for sale.  After a round of shopping we went back to Margaret's for a delicious dinner. Then it was back to the hotel to pack and head for home.

Monday July 7th.  Up early to fill the rental car and take the ferry over to the airport.  I was surprised to see several of my reunion friends leaving on the same flight to Seattle.

June 20th Car Club

The car club meet at the old river park in Kernville and went to McNally's for hamburgers

These Burgers are really good and deserve the title "World Famous"

There is a suspension bridge behind the Burger hut and this is Kern river. Some how my pictures of the group and car's got lost in never-never land.
This is a fun group and we had a good time. We meet at 2:00 and did not get
home until 6:00 PM.

June 5th Ranger Raz Ride

John has a new toy! We took it to the mountains, up by the Greenhorn Grill, for a test drive.

 John by the warming hut.
We went over to Sugar Loaf to the old sawmill. They have several old pieces of equipment.
Fun day!

June 9th Boating at Lake Ming

We planned a great day with boating and picnicking at Lake Ming. After two trips around the lake, the boat heated up and that was the ed of our rides. John thinks it's the water pump. We are hoping it's nothing to do with the motor.

Even without the boat , we did have a great time with lunch and visiting.

Whats on my design wall

I went to Bolts and Binding quilt shop for their Saturday Strip Club. This was the pattern for this month and I made 3 blocks. I'm unsure if it's going to be a table runner or what.

New Toy for John

Thursday May 22nd we went down and picked up John's new Polaris Toy.  It was very exciting getting it loaded. First try.... seems a little long for the truck bed.

we did not want to drive all the way home and pick up the car trailer, so John went to plan B

check out the boards he bought to extend the length of his truck bed.

Yea!!! it fits. John getting it secured for the drive home. I was worried about how he would get it off the truck, once we got home.

No problem just drive the truck, with the boards sticking out the back, into the bank and then drive
the Polaris off.

Static Air Show

The 3rd Saturday of each month the Mojave Airport has a gathering of small planes. We have been several times and this time they had Jim Payne with a slide show on his trip to South America with his Glider.

Paul Bunyan (John & Carl)

John's friend Carl had a very large dead pine tree and Carl was afraid it was going to fall and take out his fence. He and John worked, chopped, cut it with chain saws, and used a Front End Loader to fell this tree.

Seems like it would have been lots easier to let the tree fall, then fix the fence.

Stacked retaining wall

This is the area John dug out for our new wall that will be behind our wadding pool
We went to Home Depot for a load of the stack block. This is new way to get block off the trailer. Tractor lifting the trailer then a timber to hold it up!
Work started

YES the new wall with plants.
